City | Thirdspace |
By Rawan Kakish
Oldenburg;
calls one's "first place" the home and those that one lives with. The
"second place" is the workplace - where people may actually spend
most of their time. Third places, then, are "anchors" of community
life, Informal meeting places and creative interaction.
Born
in Amman, 1983; graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and
Design, from the Jordan university of Science and Technology (J.U.S.T.).
Rawan took off on a journey of self-discovery and self-development, exploring
all aspects of her creative abilities. In the years since her Graduation as an
architect, she had undertaken various projects, both architectural and
artistic, in an effort to nurture and extend her capabilities.
In 2008, she traveled to New York City, where she enrolled in the School of
Visual arts (S.V.A) New York, as well as the New York University (N.Y.U), to
further her study of Art. Upon her return to Amman, she participated in local
and international workshops and exhibitions; most recent were, "A shout
out from my city II" at Foresight 2011,"Voices in the Gallery"
at Nabad Gallery 2010."Zervas science and art Symposium" Greece
September 2009
Her art is about people and expressions, her engagement with the public,
interacting with her fellow humans, listening to social contemporary reality
and watching dramas unfold before her eyes.
